Organisations with 50 or more employees must set up creches: Maneka Gandhi

Image result for crechesWomen and child development minister Maneka Gandhi on Monday urged employers of organisations with 50 or more employees to set-up creche facilities as mandated under the Maternity Benefit Act.
“As responsible employers, I urge all organisations with 50 or more employees to set up crèche facility as mandated under the #MaternityBenefitAct. This will not only help increase the mother-child bond, but will certainly encourage women to continue their work-life with ease,” Gandhi said in a tweet.

Citing the TOI story, Gandhi tweeted, “Just an image can spark a change. Constable Archana Singh is seen discharging her official duties so efficiently while her child rests beside her. I am glad that the @Uppolice has decided to transfer her closer to home. Happy parenting to Archana!”

Along with an image of the TOI report on Archana Singh, DG UP Police, OP Singh earlier tweeted, “The quintessential 21st-century woman, an ace at any responsibility she is trusted with! Had a conversation with Archana this morning & ordered her transfer to Agra, closer home! The lil one brightening Jhansi police station , has inspired us to explore crèche options at every Police line.”


In response, Gandhi tweeted, “I am very happy that the @Uppolice has decided to set up crèche facility, which will help assist working mothers in resuming work immediately after their maternity leave. We have also issued detailed guidelines under our National Crèche Scheme.”
